Ultrareach just try to circumvent the Internet blockade, they do not have the resource to made all connection untraceable so they try to do a “shortcut” where they feel they can.
However as an user, I appreciate and value the effort of Ultrareach very much, because without Ultrasurf, we could not connect the freedom world and can not express our options, made us heard. The single most important function of circumvent software is IMO just that: connect and hide my IP. In this respect, Tor often fails simply due to its slow performance. In addition, reports was made public recently that the china government could detect the Tor connection pattern and block its network (http://www.cs.kau.se/philwint/static/gfc/). The issue of traceable relative it self, because of the millions users of Ultrasurf on daily basic, often for very profane purposes.
I also value the effort of Appelbaum and the Tor team very much. I am sure that, regardless how bitter it was for Ultrareach, the research of Appelbaum has made Ultrasurf more secure for the end users.
We simply need a strong anti-censorship community, that help people to its freedom.
